I like Asami. :3
She’s assertive and can hold her own. She hasn’t been given much of a chance yet, but I also like that unlike Korra, she has a bit of mystery.
Because this art of Asami is really, really fabulous, and I haven’t revealed my feelings about Asami after episode seven due to my random two week hiatus, I will explain.
For any new followers of mine who don’t know, when Asami first appeared, I disliked her - not because she “ruined Makorra” or I thought she was a rich slut, but because I simply tend to dislike people such as her in general. This, however, doesn’t mean that my feelings were set in stone. I simply hadn’t seen enough for me to personally like her as a person. Because I didn’t like her, I also disliked Masami; their gushing of nose-rubbing fluffiness also didn’t help (which is odd, because I’m typically a huge fan of fluff).
After episode seven, Asami has proved (for me) to be someone I can like. She’s far from my favorite character, but she’s turning out to be, for me, how I felt about Suki in ATLA. I liked Suki as a person, but she was far from my favorite.
It’s almost as if my feelings about her mirror Korra; after initially meeting her, I felt like she was going to be that super girly-girl who had so much money she didn’t know what to do with it. There is nothing wrong with being that type of person, but I typically don’t find them to be my favorite people to be around. The difference between Korra and me, however, was that I knew Asami was a car driver and martial artist.
When she took Korra for that car ride on the track, my feelings towards Asami leaned towards the better side. I winced when she basically quoted Toph and spoke about how people think she’s weak, but I got over it for the sake of getting to know Asami. When she went down to the factory… thing, against Mako’s wishes of her staying put, blatantly showing that he also thinks nonbenders are incapable of protecting themselves, I knew that I could finally appreciate Asami and her role in the show. She was no longer Mako’s girlfriend who had air time simply to rub noses or blow kisses.
All of this is to say that I’m glad Asami has finally gotten her chance for development, and I gladly anticipate more. This whole time I have desperately wanted to like her as a character, and now I’m glad to say that I can.
This sketch art simply reminded me of how I feel about Asami now. It shows that she is a strong, beautiful, young woman who can still kick ass and burn rubber on the race track. Episode seven is what I have been waiting for, and I’m glad that it has proved to be exactly what I was hoping for.

If Kurisu popped out from a box of 12 Dr. Pepper cans, I wouldn’t be surprised anymore.
